parts suppliers, major IT Services companies as well as our own WorkVentures Computer
Reuse Division. Our warehouse is 1800sq
meters and houses over 1,000,000 parts, all bar-coded and managed on a daily basis.
Inventory Management customers receive regularly audited inventory assessments and reports.
Vendor Owned Inventory
The objective for any service
company is to maximise service levels but minimise support costs. These 2 key elements
go hand-in-hand resulting in an ongoing balancing act. There are many areas within service that can be focused on in achieving the
right balance thus maintaining healthy margin and repeat contracts, including engineering
efficiency, first line call diagnosis, logistics overheads and inventory costs to
name a few.
Inventory costs are without
doubt one of the most undesirable and most costly elements and until recently have
been unavoidable. Today however, the concept of Vendor Owned Inventory (VOI) is
available and having a significant impact on the support costs previously incurred
by service companies.
The concept is easy. Make
the supplier of the parts responsible for planning, management and distributing
of the parts to meet your contracted SLA. ITeC is able to provide this service. As a supplier of repairs and service parts,
it is our business to own, hold and distribute inventory. VOI is not limited to
the supply of parts; it can include the whole element of the parts demand cycle,
including the reverse logistics flow.
